The Best Casas Particulares in Vedado, Havana

While the Vedado neighborhood of Havana might not be the first place you think of when looking for places to stay in Havana – Old Havana has that distinction – in many ways, El Vedado is the BEST choice for where to stay in Havana.

While El Vedado is more residential and spread out than Old Havana, it is home to some of the city’s best restaurants, bars, and cafes, making it a perfect place to spend a day and end an evening. El Vedado is also home to some of Havana’s most beautiful colonial homes, making for some incredible casas particulares for rent to visitors – these are our favorites.

What is a Casa Particular?

A casa particular is a room for rent or an entire property for rent in a private home in Cuba. Casas particulares have been the most popular accommodation option for visitors to Cuba since long before platforms like Airbnb popularized the idea of private rentals.

Casas particulares range from a spare room in a local’s home to private mansions with pools, and fit all budgets. They’re hands down the best places to stay in Cuba!

I usually have the most success finding the best casa particular Vedado options on Hotels.com – this platform seems to have the most listings of any used in Cuba.

1. Casa Brava Havana

The incredible Casa Brava Havana is one of the reasons why I always recommend that visitors look into staying in Vedado when coming to this beautiful city… the Vedado neighborhood is filled with gorgeous old mansions like these!

The rooms in Casa Brava Havana – a large bed and breakfast – are spacious and stylish, with modern, renovated bathrooms. There is a large, lush patio in the back, perfect for enjoying breakfast or escaping at the end of a long day. Plus, free wifi throughout the property is a major plus in Cuba!

For being such a luxe place to stay, rooms are surprisingly reasonably priced.

el almendron rosado

3. El Almendrón Rosado

El Almendrón Rosado is in the heart of Vedado, located just a short walk from the Malecón, Coppelia, and all the restaurants and shops this neighborhood has to offer. Housed inside a beautiful historic building, rooms are clean and classic – but the real star is the terrace and view!

El Almendrón Rosado is Spanish for “the pink vintage car” and refers to the owner’s vintage (hot pink!) convertible. If you’re looking for an airport pickup or tour around the city in style, they offer these, too!

hostal cotarelo

4. Hostal Cotarelo

The Hostal Cotarelo is a small bed and breakfast in Vedado with just three rooms, but it is also a wonderful option for those traveling with family or friends who’d like to rent out the entire place. Rooms are simple yet comfortable and large, and the patio is lovely.

You’ll enjoy breakfast and coffee on the patio, but being a block away from the famous Coppelia ice cream parlor, as well as the main thoroughfare through Vedado and the Malecón sea wall, means there is plenty to do nearby as well.

calis habana

5. Calis Habana

This bed and breakfast is one of my favorites in all of Havana! A beautifully restored Vedado mansion is home to Calis Habana, which has several rooms for rent.

Many have private balconies along with the original, colorful tiles and soaring ceilings these mansions are known for.

This is one of the best value stays in the entire Vedado neighborhood, in my opinion! You won’t find such nice rooms in such a beautiful, historic Vedado mansion – and with such spectacular views! – at this price anywhere else.
